This course is designed to comply with HSE recommendations and enable the successful candidate to train and assess both adult and paediatric First Aid courses.
This course is designed to comply with HSE recommendations and enable the successful candidate to train and assess both adult and paediatric First Aid courses and train others in the use of an AED, either through an Awarding Body or another certification route.
The competency is achieved through attendance of a classroom based First Aid Focused week plus completion of a series of written assignments towards the achievement of the level 3 Award in Education and Training. These assignments are completed via self-directed study – you will receive a full induction.
Once all of the written assignments for the team have been submitted and marked as passed, we will schedule observations for each learner to deliver a 30-minute micro teach session – these can be conducted virtually. Successful completion of this results in the achievement of the Level 3 Award in Education & Training.

How long is the course and where is it held?
The First Aid focused 5 day course is held at your chosen location, learners must also complete a series of written assignments towards the achievement of the level 3 Award in Education and Training. These assignments are completed via self-directed study – delegates will receive a full induction.

Contents of the 5-day First Aid course
Understand the role of the first-aider
Use available equipment
Assess the situation and act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking, wounded and bleeding or suffering from shock
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Administer first aid to a casualty with:
Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
Chest injuries
Burns and scalds
Eye injuries
Sudden poisoning
Anaphylactic shock
Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid for:
Heart attack
Stroke
Epilepsy
Asthma
Diabetes
Meningitis
Sickle cell anaemia
Safely and effectively operate an AED
Assessment & Certification
